Hello Internet
Hello.

My name is Amanda. I live in Tallahassee, Florida in the United States.

Sometimes I draw things. Sometimes I post things that are not as funny as I thought they were. Mostly I just reblog Carl Sagan related gibberish. Also, banjos are cool.

Prepare for randomness and geekery.

Siegfried - North American Debut Trailer

Despite the release date being pushed back several times, it looks like the English translation of Alex Alice’s Siegfried will for sure be released this June by Archaia.

We also finally have confirmation that the animated film is back in production:

ARCHAIA ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE OF ANIMATED ‘SIEGFRIED’ TRAILER

Feature-Quality Animation Heralds Release of Alex Alice’s Epic Graphic Novel ‘Siegfried’

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 4th, 2012) – Eisner Award-winning publisher Archaia Entertainment is proud to announce the online premiere of the English-language trailer for their upcoming release of Alex Alice’s SIEGFRIED, the first volume in an epic trilogy of graphic novels inspired by the Richard Wagner operatic cycle, “The Ring of the Nibelung.”

Based on the medieval Germanic mythology of the Nibelungenlied, SIEGFRIED tells the story of a child discovered in the woods by a dwarf-goblin who raises the boy in protective secrecy.  As he grows older, however, the boy discovers that he is more than just a lost orphan—he has a destiny planned by Odin, the father of the Norse gods, to fight the dragon Fafnir, guardian of the forbidden Rheingold. This beloved tale of high fantasy and epic heroic discovery is known to have inspired countless well-known classics, including J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.

To introduce the series to a North American audience, Archaia has released a feature-quality animated trailer created by Pendragon Imageforge and directed by series author and artist Alex Alice. Originally created as a stylistic proof-of-concept for an animated feature film, plans for the full production are set to resume now that Alice has completed the trilogy of graphic novels.

Volume 1 of the SIEGFRIED graphic novel will release in June, with the second and third volumes to follow in 2013.

“A stonemason steadfastly pursues a cousin he loves. However their love is troubled as he is married to a woman who tricked him into marriage and she is married to an abusive nobleman. Living out of wedlock, the two are rejected by the townspeople leaving them to struggle in abject poverty.”

If you are masochistic like I am, you might like a film that causes a good cry every now and then. Might I recommend “Jude”. It was made in 1996 and stars Christopher Eccelston and Kate Winslet. They both give brilliant performances and there is some really interesting cinematography work in it. An if you are an atheist I think will find the subject matter extremely poignant.

365 film challenge | 006 | third star (2010)

I watched this movie because there was a whole bunch of gifs from it on my dashboard and it looked good. Bloody hell. I wished someone had warned me beforehand that I would be fucking sobbing at the end. But don’t get me wrong, this is a really good film. It makes you laugh one moment but tears your heart out the next. 4/5

Hmmm, I have a feeling I will be in tears soon.

I recently saw The Artist and it is instantly at the top of my most favorite movies! I drew this fan art also as a tribute to J.C. Leyendecker (from this pic), since his style fits well with the movie.
This movie is so magnificent! If you end up watching it and not liking it, well…

(i had to make this dance into a gif once i saw it)

The Huffington Post | New Marc Maron documentary follows the neurotic comedian around NYC on September, 19th 2001

In the days that followed September 11th, one of the many questions that seemed to be on most New Yorkers minds was, when will things get back to normal? When will we feel normal again? Will we ever feel the same about our city, our country, our world? Or will the emptiness of what we lost that day always be somewhat perceptible?

Another more specific question seemed to immediately follow on the heels of those: When is it ok to laugh again? Huffington Post writer Brad Hill wrote a lovelypiece about attending David Letterman’s return to “Late Show.” While not a night of laughter, the sight of Dave at his desk, speaking with such palpable emotion about his city and feelings of loss, might have been the most striking argument for going through the motions anyone had ever made. No, Dave couldn’t be funny that night, but he could occupy the space where his comedic voice lived, and wait for its return. (read more)
