"Okay..so I got this email that is bitching at how Democrats are all wrong and Republicans are the most amazing people ever. Now I normally laugh at it because it’s funny or just ignore and delete..but this one hit a button. It states, “If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life. If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.” Now what legislated respect am I asking for b…esides to be treated equally as a person of heterosexual nature? Am I wrong to demand respect for this reason? I am treated differently, good and bad, because of my homosexuality. Some people assume I LOVE fashion and hate sports, others assume that I chose to lead such a life and feel sorry for my choices. I’ve been ridiculed at my workplace, on the street, in school, etc for being who I am. I’m deeply sorry if you’re offended because I “demand legislated respect” and wish to be respected because I am a human just as you are. I have 2 legs, a mouth, hair, a brain, a heart, and an opinion; how am I different that deserves such a second class status? l I’m sorry that I’m gay, happy, and alive and feel that it IS my civil liberty to be respected just as any other human would. Am I wrong for wanting this? I think not. End of soapbox."
